For all of you that didn't make it, you missed a great time.  We had a wonderful time even with the storm most of Friday evening and night.  Lots of wind, lightning, thunder, and rain.  Saturday turned out to be a wonderful day.

Here is a link to the website of the sponsor with lots of pics.

I have some and will get mine posted later.  The lack of sleep has hit it's toll on this old body.  I have caught up on a lot, but still have a few foggy edges....

So until next time, happy cooking.

I will be leaving out in the morning for Norfolk.  They finally got my name corrected, and a LOT of other teams have signed up.  Several of the national teams are going to be there.

Southern Living is going to be set up with a large trailer and doing an article on us.... who knows, one day I may be famous

Here is the link again in case you have missed it: http://sinclairstations.com/slamminbbq/index.shtml

If you are in the area, drop by and give us a shout...

Here is the link to my first competition this year.  I am looking at a couple more, but they are not putting any information on their websites, so I don't know if I will be able schedule them in or not.  It is kinda difficult to schedule one when they only give you the dates.  I like to know like how much $$$ for registration, check in time, etc.... and when is the awards ceremony.

I kinda stuck my neck out on this one.  They finally got the registration form on line, and I downloaded it, paid the fee, and sent it in, without know a lot about it.  But, it is coming together now.  I am still awaiting my packet of information that I am suppose to get some time this month (March).  They misspelled my team name, and so far they haven't gotten that corrected either.....  I guess they will one day.

Just seven weeks away.....

I am getting pumped, and ready to go kick some smoking butt....  You know, smoked butt, like in pork, like in bbq sandwiches, like in.... well, you get the hint.

It looks like there is going to be some stiff competition there.  There are some teams that compete on a regular basis just about every week.  Now for me, I only plan on abt 2 for now this year.  I was planning more, but my work schedule has changed, and so I will be working more weekends, so I am going to take it easy.

So until next time, smoke something great....

Sorry for the long delay.

The Holidays were busy, and now back to the grind....

I am going to Norfolk, VA for my first competition.

It sounds like it will be a great time.  It was going to be in Portsmouth, VA, but they moved it to the Naval Base in conjunction with their 200th anniversary celebration.  I will try to do better on the pictures this time.

If your in the area, stop by and say hello.

Well, the new battery did not do the trick.  I also replaced the internal battery.  There is a problem with the camera itself.... bummer.  Most likely, it will be the same story as the last one... it will cost as much to repair as a new camera.  And with the 35mm camera's loosing it's popularity, you need to go digital.....  So what do you do with abt $800 worth of camera equipment and no camera to use it with????, and no demand to buy used 35mm equipment???

I suppose I will eat this one, and go digital sooner or later....

Now back to smoking...

I did smoke 2 turkeys for Thanksgiving.  One was done for our annual Thanksgiving dinner at church, and one for us for Thanksgiving day.  Both turned out well.  I injected them with apple juice, and used apples (not apple wood) to add the smoke flavor.  If you have never tried them, you need to.  I just take a few, 4-6, and cut them up into quarters and just toss them onto the hot coals, close it up and let them smoke away.  They make a great smell around the outside... nice sweet smoke.

So until next time, happy cooking and enjoy it.

Bill
